The Unexpected Moment

It was 4am when I sat rocking you. I had woken up at 3am with mastitis again. You had woken up just a few minutes before, fussing about gas. Neither were particularly happy reasons to be awake but those few moments were so precious.

As I held you in my arms, your big beautiful eyes lit with a soft luminosity from the night light. You gazed up at the dark ceiling, your perfect little mouth puckered into a small 'o'.

You looked like a perfect china doll. Your skin so soft and warm.
So innocent and sweet you almost glowed from the inside.

This was so sweet! Especially in the midst of mastitis. Hope you feel better soon.

You write so very, very beautifully about Anna. Brings it all back: the magic of when they're so tiny. Sniff.

Those moments are so lovely, aren't they?
